RECORDING

WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE A MORE PRODUCTIVE RECORDING

COMMON SENSE

Recording is like putting your instrument under a sound microscope. It is meant to enhance the sound of your instrument, so please have them fixed and set-up properly BEFORE  you come to the studio.

Always bring spare strings, picks, sticks & drum-heads. Having to stop a session in mid-stride over a broken string or drum stick and no replacement is a huge bummer. Even if the music store is only 10 minutes away, killing "the vibe" during a great recording session always sucks.

Eternal Beyond will supply headphones for your band. We use high quality headphones by Direct Sound that offer great comfort during prolonged use, superb sound isolation and amazing clarity.

PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE

Members of the band should know what their roll is during the recording process. Talk about goals, needs & wants for your songs before coming into a recording session.

DO YOUR HOMEWORK!

To many times bands book studio time and don't even have a complete song written. Your band should know how to play these songs inside and out. You should not have to ask if this is a correct note or how long do I need to play this part?  My goal to capture the essence of your music, so be ready ahead of time by practicing and focusing on technical aspects of your song/s.

We want to produce music that even years down the road still makes you proud.

PLAY IT LIKE YOU MEAN IT!

Believe it or not your listeners CAN hear the difference...

Even the best studio gear cannot add what you, the musician, can add... SOUL! Do not place the quality of your music in the hands of a computer. Audio gear and computers are meant to enhance you the artist.

GUITARIST & BASSIST

While it may seem a bit excessive, get a professional to set-up on your guitars and basses before doing any recording.

(If you are in need of a guitar or bass tech, references are available by request.)

Having an instrument with bad intonation will never feel, sound or play like an instrument that has been professionally set-up. Before we do any capturing of your instrument a proper setup is always recommend. Do not rely on studio gear to magically make a badly set-up instrument sound like "it should". That is simply not possible.

New strings will always be required prior to and even during recording sessions. Making dead sounding guitar strings sound rich and bright is not possible even through the best of studio equipment.

Eternal Beyond Studio Stocks a large assortment of guitar and bass strings that are available to our clients. We also have several Guitars and Basses available for you to use on your project that play and sound amazing. These instruments are well maintained and always have fresh strings!

DRUMMERS

New heads, new sticks, and the best cymbals in your budget are always recommended. Rattling, weird noises or other sorts of sound anomalies should be addressed before coming in for your studio time. Taking up time to figure out why your kick drum pedal chain is making a noise is not our job. Studio time is expensive and should be used to create music, not fix your rusty pedals.

Eternal Beyond Studio uses only Soultone Cymbals on our drum recordings. These are the best cymbals that we have found for recording with and we have a LARGE assortment to choose from.

Currently we have a Pearl STS drum set available for use in our facility. This drum set is available for use by all EBStudio clients and can be setup and configured to your liking.

VOCALIST

Know your lyrics. Rehearse your songs and know how you want to approach the different sections of your songs.
The day of recording is not always the best time to begin writing your biggest hit. Having to fill one line or maybe figure out the best way to sing/say a certain part is one thing but to many times an artist comes into a session with nothing. This is an absolute waste of your whole bands time & money.
Talk to us about your next project.
